The problem
Why imported training doesn't stick
- 01
Staff disengage
A model imported wholesale asks people to work in ways that make little sense in their setting. They nod along in the training, then return to what they know.
- 02
The culture doesn't fit
Practice designed for an English nursery meets different families, a different curriculum and different regulations. Without adaptation, it clashes.
- 03
The binder goes on the shelf
Without coaching after the training, the improvement plan becomes a document nobody opens. A term later, nothing has changed.
Class Bridge starts the other way round: with an honest look at your own setting.
The idea
The Class Bridge approach
Three governing principles run through every module.
Collaboration, not inspection
Improvement is done with a setting, not to it. The diagnostic review is shared, honest and supportive.
Coaching, not compliance
Change lasts when practitioners own it. Colleagues are coached through the improvement cycle rather than handed a checklist.
Adaptation, not replication
Keep the principle, redesign the delivery. British practice is adapted to your culture, curriculum and regulations.
Outcomes
What you'll be able to do
- Explain the Class Bridge philosophy and its three principles, and judge their relevance to your own setting.
- Conduct a structured diagnostic review of an early years setting across nine domains, grading each from emerging to leading.
- Adapt UK early years practice to your cultural, curricular and regulatory context.
- Design enabling indoor and outdoor environments grounded in play-based, Reggio-inspired and enquiry pedagogy.
- Strengthen safeguarding as a whole-setting culture, adapting UK principles (KCSIE) to international standards (CIS/COBIS) and local law.
- Coach colleagues through the improvement cycle using Jim Knight's Impact Cycle and the GROW model.
